The Third Official Challenge

The Third Official Challenge: Fast Five

Objective: Create your own race car. No vehicles bought from the store can be used. It does not have to be 100% home made, but it can't be DIY kit with all the parts either.

All entries must be submitted by December 31st, you can email us a picture or video for proof. You may ask a representative for a postponement of the date if you would like. You have to build it by yourself, but you can have somebody help you if you think you need it. IF YOU WANT TO BE CREATIVE, YOU CAN USE OTHER ENERGY SOURCES BESIDES BATTERIES, SUCH AS SOLAR POWER OR WIND POWER. The vehicle must be under 18 inches in length and 6 inches wide...

The vehicle will have to go a distance of 5 yards, and the fastest five vehicles get a medal. At the beginning of the race you may start the vehicle, for example you may switch it on, but you will not be able to give it a push. Also the vehicles can be entered into a "Car Show". They will be judged on a scale of 1 to 10 in the following categories:

Creativity: Did they use pieces of previous cars bought in stores, or did they build their parts?
Aesthetics: Is it interesting, sleek, or beautiful? Is it messy, unpleasant to watch and look at?
Judges will grade your vehicle on a scale of 1 to 30 in the following category:
Function and Functionality: Does it run? If so, are its movements erratic or graceful? How fast is it? Is it simple or complex?
The Max Score will be 50. If you receive a 30 or above, then a medal will be awarded to you.
